Engineering & Verification Protocols
Cast iron seasoning is a straightforward chemical process where unsaturated fatty acids in cooking oil bond together through controlled heating, creating a solid film bonded into the micropores of the cast iron.
The Science Behind the Formulation/Build
In our workshop in Bari, each skillet is heated in a convection oven after a very thin layer of flaxseed oil is applied by hand.
- Quality check: inspection for color uniformity and absence of greasy drips on the surface.
- Traceability: cast iron sourced from verified pours with metal batch traceability.
Why This Matters for Daily Use
This natural barrier keeps food moisture from making direct contact with the iron, preventing rust formation and allowing food to release easily during searing.
